Pati has also been creating embossings for over 25 years. Embossings are created by first making an impression on a metal plate with acid reduction. Tools are used to file and refine the plates to get the detail. After the plate is made she moves to her etching press where she covers the plate with wet arches 140 pound paper and runs them through the press. The paper is embedded into the plate. Each embossing is hand pulled and then hand colored individually with vibrant watercolors. Her work has evolved over the past few years as she has started beading into the paper and adds a variety of brass sequins, porcupoine quills and a number of interesting details with hand designed papers.
